Description
Unleash your potential with PrepYou.Eu’s School of Ungentlemanly Warfare, a cutting-edge civilian training program inspired by the legendary British Special Operations Executive (SOE).
Since 2025, Europe’s security environment has deteriorated sharply, with Russian hybrid attacks and sabotage operations against infrastructure, businesses, and transport networks surging across EU territory. The re-election of President Trump and his repeated warnings that US protection of NATO allies is conditional have forced Europeans to confront the reality that American guarantees can no longer be taken for granted, especially as Washington openly questions NATO’s role and pursues hard-edged bargaining over issues such as Arctic access and Greenland, unsettling key European allies. At the same time, EU institutions are racing to build a “Preparedness Union”, urging civilians to maintain at least 72 hours of self-sufficiency and to prepare for crises ranging from natural disasters to hybrid attacks and armed aggression.
This course responds to that new reality by delving into the principles of asymmetric warfare, equipping participants with the skills and knowledge to thrive in unpredictable environments shaped by hybrid conflict, regional instability, and the possibility of NATO fragmentation. You will learn guerrilla warfare, survival, evasion, reconnaissance, and combat medicine—all tailored for the modern threats now facing European civilians.
Led by NATO-experienced instructors near Sofia, Bulgaria, this immersive training combines live-fire exercises with advanced strategies used in asymmetric engagements and hybrid warfare scenarios.
Whether preparing for emergencies such as natural disasters, armed conflict, infrastructure disruption, or territorial instability, participants gain hands-on experience in critical areas including small unit tactics, SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance, Escape), and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear) defence.
The course emphasises adaptability and innovation—the hallmarks of SOE operations—ensuring you can exploit vulnerabilities and navigate complex situations effectively.
Perfect for individuals seeking resilience and readiness in today’s volatile geopolitical landscape, this training empowers you to act decisively when it matters most.
Join PrepYou.Eu’s School of Ungentlemanly Warfare and become part of a tradition that redefined conflict. Secure your future by mastering the art of asymmetric warfare today.
Why?
Europe stands at a pivotal moment. The geopolitical landscape has fundamentally shifted in 2026. With the United States pursuing a more transactional approach to NATO alliances and reassessing its traditional security commitments, Europe can no longer depend on established security guarantees. Simultaneously, shifting territorial and strategic ambitions in the High North and North America, together with ongoing Russian military intentions in Eastern Europe, create an environment of profound uncertainty.
The Russian Federation maintains an aggressive posture towards Ukraine and neighbouring regions, whilst NATO’s cohesion—already strained by evolving American strategic priorities—cannot be assumed as a permanent safeguard. For European civilians, this reality is clear: self-reliance and collective civilian preparedness are now essential components of national resilience.

The Fragmentation Risk: NATO’s Weakening Architecture
The potential fracturing of NATO presents an underestimated but critical threat to European stability. As the alliance’s collective defence architecture weakens due to American strategic reorientation, regional power vacuums are emerging across the continent. This fragmentation creates conditions for opportunistic actors—both state and non-state—to exploit divisions within the European Union and capitalise on the absence of coherent continental defence planning.
Several NATO-aligned states, particularly those with historical territorial ambitions or regional hegemonic aspirations, may view the weakening of the alliance as an opportunity to expand influence in their immediate spheres. Without a unified NATO framework constraining aggression, smaller regional conflicts could escalate rapidly. These conflicts would likely target border regions, ethnic enclaves, or disputed territories where EU institutional capacity is weakest and where the absence of American security guarantees creates strategic vacuums.
The EU’s fragmented institutional response further compounds this risk. Unlike NATO, which provides a unified command structure and collective defence trigger (Article 5), the EU lacks both the military integration and the political consensus necessary to respond decisively to rapid regional crises. Member states operating independently, without coordinated planning or shared strategic doctrine, are vulnerable to being picked off individually or to finding themselves entangled in conflicts they are neither prepared for nor unified in supporting.
Smaller, militarily capable regional powers may calculate that they can achieve territorial or political objectives before any coherent EU or NATO response materialises. The precedent set by Russia’s actions in Ukraine and its wider campaign of hybrid and sabotage operations across Europe demonstrates this calculus: rapid fait accompli followed by international paralysis. As NATO’s cohesion deteriorates and American security guarantees become conditional, similar calculations could drive adventurism along other European fault lines.
Civilian Vulnerability in a Fragmented Europe
This fragmentation creates a direct threat to European civilians, particularly those living in border regions or in states with weakened institutional capacity. In scenarios of rapid regional conflict—whether border skirmishes, ethnic tensions escalating into armed confrontation, or opportunistic incursions by regional hegemons—civilian populations are historically the first to suffer displacement, resource deprivation, and direct violence.
The absence of coherent European planning means there is no unified civil defence architecture, no standardised evacuation protocols, and no guarantee of cross-border support during crises. Individual nations will be forced to prioritise their own populations, creating regional humanitarian disasters and leaving border communities especially vulnerable.
Unlike the Cold War, when the threat model was clear and defences were integrated, civilians today face an unpredictable landscape where the nature, timing, and geographic location of regional conflicts remain uncertain. This uncertainty demands that individuals and communities prepare themselves independently rather than relying on state-level frameworks that may not materialise in time.
The Strategic Reality
The School of Ungentlemanly Warfare recognises this emerging reality and offers civilians critical training to navigate crises effectively in an era when Europe is fighting alone—or worse, when Europe is fragmented into competing defensive postures and unable to present a unified response.
Modern warfare increasingly relies on hybrid threats—cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, infrastructure sabotage, territorial incursion, and rapid military adventurism exploiting institutional vacuums—demanding that civilians understand their role in European defence and resilience. Individuals trained in asymmetric tactics, self-sufficiency, and rapid situational adaptation represent force multipliers for their communities and contribute meaningfully to localised defence.
The European Union has explicitly urged citizens to stockpile supplies and prepare for emergencies lasting at least 72 hours, with some member states recommending preparations for extended periods of disruption. This guidance underscores that civilian preparedness is no longer theoretical—it is a strategic necessity in a fragmented security environment.
Civil preparedness is being integrated into EU and national defence strategies across the continent, emphasising collaboration between civilian populations and military forces through regular exercises and training initiatives. This course aligns with these vital objectives by fostering readiness at the individual level, building the foundational competencies that enable civilians to protect themselves, their families, and their communities when institutional support may be delayed, fragmented, or unavailable.
Led by NATO-experienced professionals near Sofia, Bulgaria, the programme combines historical lessons from the SOE with modern techniques tailored to asymmetric warfare, hybrid threats, regional conflict scenarios, and the geopolitical realities of 2026.
It empowers participants to respond decisively to emergencies ranging from natural disasters and armed conflict to enemy occupation of European territories—as demonstrated by the ongoing situation in Ukraine and the broader instability facing the continent. Critically, it prepares individuals to operate effectively in environments where state-level coordination has failed or fragmented, and where local self-sufficiency becomes the primary mechanism of survival and community defence.
In a time when Europe’s security is increasingly uncertain, NATO’s architecture is weakening, and regional conflicts could emerge from power vacuums left by American reorientation and EU institutional fragmentation, investing in civilian training like this ensures that individuals are prepared to protect themselves, support their communities, and contribute meaningfully to European resilience at the local level where it matters most.
What is the difference between this package and the 14-Day Intensive Training & why does that cost more?
The Three-month Subscription is designed for students local to Sofia, Bulgaria, who already have a good standard of weapon handling and competency, because they can train more regularly than most who commute to train with us from all over the world.
The very intensive 14-day Intensive Training package is delivered over the last two weeks of the month and allows the international student to develop their own firearms skills alongside all the asymmetric elements of the course simultaneously.
The 14-Day Intensive course also covers the complete syllabus of the 3-Day AK Operator’s course as well as the Multi-Platform Firearms course, so it can be considered a true “Zero to Hero” training opportunity.
Approx 1,200 rounds of live ammunition will be fired on this 14-day course.
Please Note: Students should be physically and mentally prepared to attend this course and will undergo background checks before enrolling.
Course Structure & Delivery
Students will be allocated a 4-6 man/woman “Patrol Group” they will work within during their training. If a student cannot make a training session, they will be seconded into a separate Patrol Group to receive the module they have missed.
