Why?
As Europe faces escalating geopolitical tensions and the looming threat of war, civilian preparedness has become a necessity, not a luxury. The School of Ungentlemanly Warfare, inspired by the unorthodox tactics of the British Special Operations Executive (SOE), offers civilians critical training to navigate crises effectively.
With modern warfare increasingly relying on hybrid threats—such as cyberattacks, disinformation campaigns, and sabotage—this course equips participants with essential skills in survival, evasion, reconnaissance, and combat medicine.
The European Union has urged citizens to stockpile supplies and prepare for emergencies lasting at least 72 hours, underscoring the importance of self-sufficiency and resilience.
Moreover, civil preparedness is being integrated into EU strategies, emphasising collaboration between civilians and military forces through regular exercises. This course aligns with these objectives by fostering readiness at the individual level.
Led by NATO-experienced professionals near Sofia, Bulgaria, the program combines historical lessons from the SOE with modern techniques tailored to asymmetric warfare in 2025.
It empowers participants to respond decisively to emergencies ranging from natural disasters, armed conflict or enemy occupation of their own territories (See Ukraine).

What is the difference between this package and the Three-month Subscription & why does it cost more?
The Three-month Subscription is designed for students local to Sofia, Bulgaria, who already have a good standard of weapon handling and competency, because they can train more regularly than most who commute to train with us from all over the world.
This very intensive 14 day package is delivered over the last two weeks of the month and allows the international student to develop their own firearms skills alongside all the asymmetric elements of the course simultaneously.
The 14-Day Intensive course also covers the complete syllabus of the 3-Day AK Operator’s course as well as the Multi-Platform Firearms course, so it can be considered a true “Zero to Hero” training opportunity.
Approx 1,200 rounds of live ammunition will be fired on this 14-day course.
Please Note: Students should be physically and mentally prepared to attend this course and will undergo background checks before enrolling.
Course Structure & Delivery
Students will be allocated a 4-6 man/woman “Patrol Group” that they will work within during their training. If a student cannot make a training session, they will be seconded into a separate Patrol Group to receive the module they have missed.
The intensive training package is delivered over a 14 day period and includes:
- 14-day residential training package delivered in Sofia, Bulgaria.
- 4-6 Online Training Sessions (2 hours each) before course delivery and arranged at the student’s convenience.
- Continuation Training – Once you have passed the 14-day basic training, Patrol Group members will be welcome to assist in training delivery for new students and assist in developing ongoing continuation training.
Communication During Training
- All potential students will be asked to fill in a Security Vetting Questionaire
- All Patrol Groups will have their own Signal Group for unrestricted voice, video and text communications
- Commercial meeting software will be used for all online training delivery
- Secondary/Emergency communications channel will be allocated at start of training.
Course Contents
There is no other training provider in Europe is delivering this type or level of training to civilians – Fact.
Considering this and the fact that the training content is most sensitive (although the majority is Open Source), we will not be releasing the full training itinerary or locations publicly. If you are in doubt, please make Contact and we can answer your questions directly.
Kit & Equipment
There are no quartermasters in asymmetrical warfare. For that reason, all students must prepare their own kit and equipment appropriate to the threats they face. This is an important part of this training course and we can assist via our retail partners to make sure you assemble what you need at the best possible price.
There are two levels of kit & equipment required.
Basic Training:
- Good outdoor civilian clothing and footwear appropriate for the weather
- 30-40L Patrol Pack
- Shooter Belt
- Hydration bladder
- Chest Rig (Plate carriers are optional)
- IFAK (Individual First Aid Kit – We build this during your training)
- Fieldcraft Kit – Built during training
- 1 x Head torch (Red filter)
- 1 x Torch
- Lockable knife or multi-tool
- 50+ Meters Paracrod
- Waterproof notebook & pens/pencils
Advanced Training:
- Sleep system (Sleeping bag, sleeping mat & Tarp (Or “Basha”)
- Personal Field Admin Kit (Built during training)
- Dry bags
- Secondary field clothing (Dry Kit)

- PMR Radio
- Respirator (Gas Mask)
