Frequently Asked Questions

  • We immediately began Civil Defence Training for civilians right after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2022. We saw how unprepared most Europeans were to deal with any kind of international emergency. To date we have trained just under 1,000 Civil Defece Students since then.
  • Very good point and we agree. This type of Civil Defence preparation should be 100% in the domain of a nations government and leading NGOs. Due to the current political crisis in Bulgaria, there is not a great deal of hope of this changing any time soon.

In contrast, most EU countries without a shared Russian border are also way behind on civilian civil defence preparations. However, most of these countries do have a well trained and equiped Reserve Forces to support their regular armed forces in time of need.

  • Yes – Corporate sponsors will be most welcome to help make the Civil Defence Group more accessible to more responsible citizens and residents of Bulgaria.
  • We can also run the programme as an ongoing Team Building package for in-house delivery at your workplace.
  • Absolutely! Depending on your Operator/Responder/Cadet status there is an ongoing subscription model to maintain regular in-person training with the teams we are developing.
  • Not a problem! If you are happy with Phase 1 Training you can stop there or you can return to the CDG anytime within a year of passing Phase 1 Training for Continuation Training.
  • Well… it’s not for several reason including:
    • All CDG Members are volunteers, not paid workers.
    • Apart from their own personal weapons procured under regular Bulgarian firearms laws, all members of the CDG are unarmed and are not expected to carry weapons. They will however be well trained in how to use them in the unlikely event they do.
    • CDG has no formal uniform
    • There is no ideological/religious/political allegiances with the Civil Defence Group. They are there to support local and international agencies UNDER AGENCY SUPERVISION as and when required.
    • Civil Defence Group are not trained as War-fighters.
  • Short Term Goals – To prepare as many Bulgarian Citizens/Residents as possible to deal with a Civil Defence emergency.
  • Medium Term Goals – With the help of private business and sponsors, to push the Civil Defence Group out across the whole country with privately subsidised training for all.
  • Long Term Goals – To provide an established, tried & tested solution for Civil Defence & Reserve Forces (including Cadet Force) which hs been pre-built and ready for transfer to the Bulgarian State (Ministry of Defence/Interior/Environment) for ongoing command and control.
  • At times, yes. However, due to the mature nature of the training content, some adults will find aspects of their preparation challenging so some content is tailored to that specific audience.
